NKOMO VILLAGE-Giyani police are investigating a case of murder after a man was beaten and burned to death by irate community members during the community meeting held at Nkomo 22A outside Giyani on Wednesday night, December 7.
Police Spokesman Sergeant Ridgewell Rikhotso said that preliminary investigation revealed that the community members were accusing the deceased of being responsible for the crimes that were committed in their village.
During the meeting he was then assaulted by an angry mob and burned him with a tire, Sergeant Rikhotso added.
The deceased was identified as Doctor Mabunda (22).
The police are asking community members to assist with information that can lead to the arrest of those responsible for Mabunda’s murder to contact Warrant Officer Maswanganyi at 0825656491 or crime stop number 0860010111.
