LENYENYE-Mohlaba village residents in Greater Tzaneen, went on a rampage and hunted down an alleged cable thief on Saturday.
This comes after the suspect, (42), had allegedly been terrorising the community by stealing electricity cables and committing other crimes.
Reports indicate that on Saturday, irate residents mobilized and ambushed him at his place of residence in Muhlava, xawela village. It is said that the suspect fled the scene when he saw the mob approaching.
Stolen cables and other valuables were reportedly found at the suspect’s residence.
“The community is tired of criminals, hence, they took it upon themselves to confront this particular suspect. Upon seeing the mob and realizing he was going to be attacked, he fled on foot”, a resident said.
A case has been opened and Ritavi police are investigating.
