POLOKWANE- A team comprising the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit, Witbank SAPS and Health Professional Council of South Africa(HPCSA) officials swooped on the premises following up on allegations regarding doctors practising without valid credentials.

A 42-year-old man is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on 8 June 2023 following his arrest by the Polokwane-based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation members for alleged fraud.

According to Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Matimba Maluleke, the team received information from the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) about someone who was allegedly practising as a Medical Doctor without a license in Polokwane.

“The team tactically visited the surgery and found the suspect treating patients as if allowed by the law. After failing to produce the license to practice as a medical doctor, the suspect was placed under arrest,” he said
