A young boy found in Mozambique after sneaking in a mining truck from Phalaborwa

PHALABORWA-A tipper truck driver from Phalaborwa Mining Company was detained in Mozambique after an unknown young boy was found hiding in his truck trailer.

According to the truck driver, he suspects that the boy who could be in his 20s may have gained entry by cutting the sailor off his trailer at the Puma filling station when he was still resting.

“I loaded the truck in Phalaborwa, rested at the Puma filling station in Acornhoek Mall, proceeded with my trip early in the morning around 04h30 to Mozambique,” the driver said

He further explained that he never stopped after he left Acornhoek up until when he was about to offload in Mozambique, When he opened his trailers to offload he was shocked to find a young boy in deep sleep.

After questioning him the young boy confessed that he is from Chabelagaza village in Acornhoek, he sneaked into the truck because he was badly treated at home.

The truck driver immediately alerted authorities in Mozambique but he was detained instead and charged with human trafficking.

After several hours of negotiations, the truck driver and the boy were released back to the country.
