A Ugandan national who scammed a teacher of her pension money remanded in custodyBy Kabelo Abel Mokgalabone.

MBOMBELA-A 50 – year 50-year-old man from Uganda who was arrested for scamming a 46-year-old teacher of her pension money has appeared in court.

Christopher Masereka, also known as Moses Mawaza appeared before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court in Mbombela, Mpumalanga on Tuesday.

The man, who started dating the teacher in March earlier this year, scammed his lover of pension money after she resigned as a teacher in May.

The accused allegedly advised the teacher to resign from her job so that she could invest money into his logistics business, and that they become business partners.

Soon after the woman gave all her pension payouts to her boyfriend, he disappeared changed his contact numbers and relocated to a new accommodation.

However, the police managed to trace him and was arrested.

The suspect will return to court on October 20th facing charges of theft under false pretence and contravention of the Immigration Act.
