MAFARANA VILLAGE-A pensioner has succumbed to her injuries following a brazen attack by thugs during a burglary at her house.
The incident is alleged to have happened at Mafarana village, Greater Tzaneen, on Thursday evening.
According to neighbours, the deceased, Ntabazi Khoza(81), was partially blind.
“On Thursday around midnight, two suspects broke into Kokwani’s house and attacked her while she was sleeping. She attempted to fight off the suspects but was overpowered and hit with a rock repeatedly. The criminals took an undisclosed amount of her old age grant and fled”, the neighbour explained.
A tenant occupying an outside room said that he heard the commotion, but, was too terrified to go outside and investigate.
Emergency services and police were alerted and the victim was rushed to Dr CN Phatudi Hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
Letsitele police were contacted for comment. However, they said that they don’t have a person who deals with the media, therefore, they were not in a position to assist.
