MARIVENI VILLAGE- A newborn baby has been rescued after was found concealed in a plastic bag, and dumped in a bridge at Mariveni village outside Nkowankowa in Greater Tzaneen.
The shocking discovery was made by a passerby at around 8:00 on Tuesday morning.
The passerby allegedly alerted the community who responded to the call and they found the baby whose gender is not known at this stage who was still alive.
The newborn baby was then taken to Mariveni clinic for medical attention.
Police are appealing for community members with information relating to the incident to report it so that the baby’s mother can be arrested.
Police further said that a case of concealment of birth was registered. The police urged anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the baby girl’s mother to please contact the police or Crime Stop at 086-001-0111 or on My SAPS App.
