GA-MADUMANE-A family of six from Ga-Madumane village in Bolobedu under Greater Tzaneen, live in abject poverty.

The head of the house Steven Morobi, said that he, his wife and four young children, the youngest being 1-year-old, have been suffering for a long time and that the wheels of change turn slowly.

Morobi further averred that his pleas for an RDP house have fallen on deaf ears. This, he says it’s because houses are allocated to undeserving people while those in desperate need remain on a waiting list.

“My children have to wait outside while I or their mother take a bath. Even in the wee hours of the morning when I prepare for work they have to be woken up and wait outside. It’s sad to watch. I am working, but, I don’t make enough money to build a house to restore my family’s dignity “, Morobi said.

A concerned neighbour Michael Mashatola said it pains him to see the family being overlooked when houses are allocated.

“Coghsta has visited the family, but, they say the family doesn’t deserve an RDP house. How, when we can all see the situation is dire”, he fumed.

Tzaneen Voice attempted to get a comment through the ward Councillor Jeffrey Mametja who refuted Morobi’s statement.

“They are not telling the truth. We have identified the family as government and they are our priority. They will be given first preference when houses become available and the process won’t take long”, Mametja confirmed.
