MADUMELENG-The police in Bolobedu are investigating a case of arson and assault, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). This comes after a group of men brazenly attacked a family, in Madumeleng village, Greater Letaba, while they were sleeping and set their house alight around 1:00am, on Sunday, March 20.
It is alleged that, the owner of the house, Tshepo Machethe, his wife and children, were sleeping when the criminals stormed in. It is further alleged that the family was targeted because Machethe had an altercation with the gang earlier that evening trying to defend his brother whom was being shoved around by the group trying to rob him.
Everything in the house was burnt to ashes.
“I believe we were targeted because of what transpired between my brother and these thugs. I defended him when they were trying to rob him earlier on that evening. I believe they came back to avenge themselves. We are lucky to be alive”. Machethe said
Bolobedu police communications officer Khomotso Hlokwe confirmed they are investigating a case of arson and attempted murder.
“We plead with community members to come forward if they have any information that can lead us to the suspects”, she said.
