BURGERSDORP family of five from Burgersdorp village in Greater Tzaneen shares a dilapidated one-room shack with no electricity.

To add to their misery the husband and wife are unemployed, they depend on their three children’s social grants for survival.

According to the wife, Mpho Malatji, the family lives in abject poverty with their children, the youngest being 5 months old.

“We are in complete dire straits. Our home situation has worsened because my husband and I are not working.

Our shack is on the brink of collapse and I don’t think it will withstand the rainy season this year.

If we can get help with building materials to build a stronger structure, I will be happy because the RDP house application is a lengthy process “, Malatji said.

Malatji said that the GTM Ward 28 councillor Goodman Nkhwashu was once approached for help but to no avail.

Cllr Nkhwashu was not reachable on his mobile when contacted for comment.
