POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has condemned the “gross negligence and reckless driving” by a 25-year-old man who was arrested for driving at 234km/h on N1 South.
Lerule-Ramakhanya said most fatal accidents reported in Limpopo are caused by speed, reckless and negligent driving.
She commended law enforcers for the arrest and said it should serve as a warning to other motorists who continue to disobey the rules of the road.
“I am dissapointed and I want to condemn the behaviour of the person who was caught around Mookgophong area yesterday. We are not going to tolerate anyone who does not abide by the law and our speed limits on the roads.”
Lerule-Ramakhanya urged young drivers to be responsible and comply to the rules of the road. “You follow the regulations but we also want to send a warning that we will arrest, detain and make sure that you are accountable for your actions when you break the law,” she said.
