By. POLOKWANE: The South African Police Service in Thohoyandou under the Vhembe District Asa qws have arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection with the possession of two unlicensed firearms on Monday 28 August 2023 Sc.
According to information available at this stage, Police received a complaint about a teenager who was in possession of firearms outside Thohoyandou Police Station at about 11:00.
Police acted swiftly and immediately located the suspect at the premises and approached her. The suspect was searched and Police’ found two unlicensed firearms in her possession. She was then asked about their origin but failed to provide a satisfactory response.
The suspect was immediately placed under arrest on the spot for being in possession of unlicensed firearms.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the unlicensed firearms belonged to the boyfriend of the suspect who was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, attempted murder and house robbery that were committed earlier this month on August under Thohoyandou Policing precinct.
The suspect is expected to appear before the specialized Children’s Court at Thohoyandou Magistrate soon facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms.
