PHARARE-A 61-year-old man is facing a rape charge after allegedly raping a 14-year-old granddaughter in Pharare village on January 01.
Maake SAPS communications officer Sergeant Patricia Shikwambana said it is alleged that the victim was sleeping with her sisters when her grandfather, took her to his room and raped her at about 23h00.
It further alleged that the 61-year-old suspect told the victim not to tell anyone as he will twist her mind with traditional muti.
The victim did not report the incident to anyone as she was afraid of her grandfather.
On 29 January 2023 while at home, her uncle was informed about the rape of one of the children at his home.
The victim started crying and made a report to her uncle that she is the one who was raped by her grandfather he told her not to tell anyone.
The uncle took the victim to Maake SAPS and reported the matter.
