BOLOBEDU – Police in Mokwakwaila outside Tzaneen today arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping and robbing an elderly woman.
The incident occurred at Ga-Ramotshinyadi village in Mokwakwaila policing area on Sunday 21 February 2021 at about 02h00 in the morning.
The victim a 77-year-old woman was sleeping in her house at Ga-Ramotshinyadi village when a 19-year-old suspect broke into her house and demanded money. She then gave him R500-00 and then he forcefully undressed her and raped her several times before he fled the scene.
The police were then summoned and they traced and arrested the young man for house robbery and rape.
Suspect 19 years will appear in Bolobedu magistrate Court on Wednesday 24 February 2021 on charges of House robbery and rape.
The victim 77-year-old was taken to Kgapane hospital for medical assistance and she is staying alone at her home.
Investigations are continuing.
