DAN VILLAGE– The community of Lusaka, Dan village, has been left in shock following the alleged rape of a 1-year-old baby girl in the early hours of Saturday, July 5, 2025.
The incident occurred at Lusaka ,Dan village, under the Ritavi policing area.
According to police reports, the infant’s 44-year-old aunt was sleeping with her own daughter and her niece (the victim) when she was awakened by the sound of a garage door closing. She then heard the baby crying and found the child lying in a passage.
Upon bringing the infant back to bed, the aunt discovered disturbing signs of sexual assault.
The victim was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where medical staff confirmed that she had been raped.
The suspect, described only as an unknown African male, remains at large.
A rape case has been opened at Ritavi Police Station and has been transferred to the Tzaneen Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for specialized investigation.
Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance.
